Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information.

Last updated: May 2025

studiomob.ca ("we", "us", "our") operates NovaEditor and its associated website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard personal data when you use our software or visit this website.

By using NovaEditor or this website you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you disagree, please discontinue use and contact us at info@studiomob.ca.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 License Activation

When you activate NovaEditor, the following information is transmitted to our license server:

  • Your email address (the one used at purchase)
  • Your serial number
  • A machine identifier — a one-way hash derived from hardware attributes (CPU model, hostname, OS platform and architecture). This hash cannot be reversed to recover the original hardware values.

This data is used solely to validate your license and prevent unauthorized sharing of a single serial number across many machines.

1.2 Website Contact Form

When you submit the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message. This data is used only to respond to your inquiry and is not added to any marketing list.

1.3 Website Analytics

We may collect anonymised, aggregate browsing data (page views, referrer, browser type) using server-side access logs or a privacy-respecting analytics tool. No personally identifiable information is collected for analytics purposes, and no third-party tracking scripts (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.) are used.

1.4 Payment

Purchases are processed by our third-party payment provider (e.g. Gumroad). We do not receive or store your credit card details. The payment provider's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To verify and manage your NovaEditor license
  • To respond to support requests and contact form submissions
  • To send you important information about the product (security updates, major version changes) — only to customers who have registered
  • To prevent fraud and unauthorized use

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.

3. Data Retention

License records are retained for as long as your serial number is active. If you request deactivation and deletion, we will remove your data from our license server within 30 days. Contact us at info@studiomob.ca to request deletion.

Support correspondence is retained for up to 2 years and then deleted.

4. Data Security

All communication between NovaEditor and our license server uses HTTPS with TLS. Passwords and machine identifiers are stored as one-way hashes. We follow industry-standard practices to protect data against unauthorized access.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable precautions appropriate for the nature of the data involved.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Request data portability

To exercise any of these rights, email info@studiomob.ca from your registered email address. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. A session cookie may be set for the contact form to prevent duplicate submissions. No personal data is stored in cookies.

7. Third-Party Services

The NovaEditor application itself does not contain any third-party SDKs, telemetry frameworks, or advertising libraries. The only external network requests made by the app are:

  • License validation/activation to our server at xtractpler.com
  • Version update check to our server at xtractpler.com

No usage analytics, crash reports, or patch data are ever transmitted.

8. Children's Privacy

NovaEditor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a revised "last updated" date. Continued use of NovaEditor after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
